You can left click items to select them which will open a information window to the side. If you left click hold and drag items out of the window you can toss them into space, transfer them to other cargo windows, move items to station storage, or station fabrication (crafting) windows. Some items can be activated or deployed by double left clicking. The window has a cargo capacity indicator at the bottom as well as some controls for tossing (ejecting) or selling specific amounts of the selected item. Navigation Window (Radar Mode)
The navigation window (bottom right corner) is a fixed window which cannot be re-positioned. This window will expand in size when you hover your mouse over it. While in radar mode the center of this window is the location of your ship in space, icons will be displayed around this point that shows the location of celestial objects and ships, faint dotted lines are the orbits of objects like planets and stars within a sector. When your mouse is over the expanded window you can use the mouse wheel to zoom in an out a bit. The purpose of this window is to assist in navigation by showing a simplified view of some the off-screen area up to a whole sector away from you. You can left click icons in the radar to target them directly.
Navigation Window (Map Mode)
By clicking the star chart icon next to the settings gear icon (far top right of the window) you can toggle between Radar Mode and Map Mode. In Map mode you have an overview of the galaxy. The mouse scroll wheel will zoom in, unlike in radar mode you may also left-click-hold and drag your view around to see far away locations. Zoom level will change what is visible, when seeing a large area only region color coding and nebula are visible; when up more details are shown like the presence of asteroids and stars. Right clicking a sector on the map will autopilot your ship to that location. Double left clicking will just select a sector on the map. Some of the buttons above the map allow you to mark locations you selected with text. This is useful for making notes about key locations. Often it is a good idea to mark off the location of NPC stations, your own stations, or areas with rich resources and many planets close together. You can also toggle between modes by hitting the "M" key.
Location Summary Bar
Located at the top in the middle. This bar gives a summary of your current location, region, and the danger factor "DF" rating of the given sector. The higher the DF the greater the danger, higher level NPC will spawn. Higher danger factor areas tend to have more exotic ores, item drops, more extraction slots on planets, and stations with higher tier gear for sale.
